It seems like every day there is a new discovery concerning minor cannabinoids and their therapeutic potential, and even with discoveries concerning the multitudinous effects and compositions of these cannabinoids breaking ground almost daily, delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol still manages to stand alone.
The therapeutic effects of minor cannabinoids like CBD, CBG and sleep supporting CBN are certainly fascinating but Delta-8 is particularly intriguing. Delta-8 THC is only one carbon bond away from the more familiarly intoxicating Delta-9 THC, and its effects are both markedly different and unobtrusively analogous; an imperceptible psychotropia that, while reminiscent of the familiar delta-9 THC high, is diaphanous enough for everyday use by even low-tolerance cannabis enthusiasts.
We took a deep dive into both popular and under-the-radar hemp-derived delta-8 products and, after rigorous testing, ranked our faves based on ease of access/use, potency, affordability, and both curative and recreational effects. After more than 30 days of trails, cross-referencing user reviews, and consulting with our Delta-8 using friends and family, here’s what we came up with:
These hemp-derived delta-8 THC gummies keep my creativity cascading by quieting my mind and supporting a more direct focus, they also keep me in a mellow enough mood that I can bounce in and out of a highly focused flow-state without feeling untethered, and, bonus, they even keep my body loose while hunched over a desk for long periods that would otherwise have me locked in painful cramps.
Cognitive function support
Superficial pain relief
Does not support sleep (for me – your experience may vary)

The brand is named Delta-8, which itself is pretty ostentatious, as if a rock band named itself Rock Band, but during testing the products became as much of a household fixture as any other one-name celebrity, so I suppose the label is appropriate. These sugared, cube shaped delta-8 gummies were the perfect mouthful of tart, firm confection, with sheer, mild effects remarkably similar to super-low dose (<2.5%) THC edibles.
During my own daily testing I experienced a sharpening of focus and a gently soothing, barely-noticeable body buzz that made sitting at my desk for prolonged periods relatively easier. There is no high per-se, but for a low tolerance cannabis user, these may provide more noticable effects – for higher toleranced cannabis users, these function well as part of a morning wellness routine, providing clarity, an improved mood and a soothing physical lift.
These particular gummies hit all my criteria for an exemplary D8 experience: the candy itself has a complex, terpene rich flavor, a sturdy chew, and a lingering citrus-bright aftertaste that makes me want to pop them like corner store candies rather than medicated miracle cubes. The effects blossom and pool without a psychoactive swoon or percolating effervescence; these effects, for me, were perceptible on a cellular level but not in a way that tangibly re-adjusted my reality, which was great for work, creative or otherwise.
Altogether, this delta-8 flower is more than an alternative to intoxicating THC, it’s an experience unto itself that showcases the best effects of my two favorite minor cannabinoids; the soothing, therapeutic tonic of CBG and the brisk, creativity inspiring invigoration of D8, in a sticky green package that’s as versatile as it is tasty.
For flower coinessuers who’ve outgrown their tolerance but not their appreciation of a superb smoke, Plain Jane’s Delta-8 THC flower delivers a pungent, familiar mouthful of alternative cannabinoids that have both the therapeutic effects of CBG and the mild mood boost of D8. These delta-8 buds have the robust, piney perfume and rich, botanical exhale of a top shelf varietal, at a bargain price point and with easy delivery options. Whether ground into a cone, rolled into a hemp blunt, or packed into a bowl, Plain Jane delta-8 flower was sticky, flavorful, and capable of delivering robust effects.
I auditioned Plain Jane’s CBG-rich Delta-8 THC flower as both a pre roll and and as hits in a personal use pipe. The puffs draw with smooth, silky ease, just as I’d expect from a top shelf cultivar, and the lingering exhale is a sweet, earthy tone. Activation creeps in the same way one would expect from a smokeable, albeit with a gentle mood adjustment rather than a captivating intoxication. In the head, the effects are crystalline, mild, and soothing. In the body, the effects have a tempered energy boost that is easily parlayed into housework or other low-stakes activities, but it should be said that these effects are responsive enough to support a restful night’s sleep when puffed at the end of a long day.
NuLeaf’s inclusion in this list is certainly earned through the efficacy of the products, but the versatility of the delta-8 THC oil infusion widens the potential user base to include those who can’t tolerate inhalation, pills, or sugary-edibles.

Folks interested in the effects of Delta-8 but unwilling to commit to a mouthful of candy and/or smoke, this (mostly) flavorless sublingual tincture might be the product for you. This product’s potential uses are limitless; add a dropper full to your morning coffee, your morning toast, or just apply sublingually and let the oil absorb cleanly into your mouth. The neutral flavor of this delta-8 oil infusion is so inconspicuous it would be as effective added to a taco or a slice of cake, and that neutrality is one of the reasons this product is such a great pantry/medicine cabinet addition.
NuLeaf’s Delta-8 THC hemp oil offers the same described effects as our other favorite delta-8 products; added mental clarity, mood balancing boosts and a mild physical soothing, with the uncluttered potency of a simple hemp-seed oil extraction. Whereas the delta-8 edible gummies and the flower are singular unique experiences, NuLeaf’s tincture could medicate any number of edibles without distracting from the edible’s culinary integrity. The effects arise, whether taken sublingually or via edible, in slow, measured waves. During testing I found my mood noticeably lightened, my focus markedly more intense, and any lingering body pain gently eased. No dizzying swoons or euphoric twinklings were featured, but the mild effects that were felt were long lasting and potent in their own ways. NuLeaf also offers delta-8 pills made using the same extract that’s in the sublingual oil we tested.
Lady Jay’s femme forward branding and decidedly feminine POV speaks to what feels like an exclusive market, but if the burlier D8 fans can get past carrying a pre-roll pack emblazoned with the word LADY, they’ll be content with the contents, girly as they may be.
Lady Jay’s delta-8 pre-roll packs come in two varieties: Bubba Kush and Sour Space Candy, the former testing out at around 25mg delta-8 THC per roll. These prerolls are made with sungrown, organic hemp flower from TKO Reserve and Marshall Farming, and have complex terp profiles that have the fragrance and mouthfeel of dank dispensary weed. Bonus, Lady Jay’s pays particular attention to alternative, or minor cannabinoids, so each cultivar’s entourage includes thoughtful percentages of CBG and CBD. Sour Space Candy, for example, features 9mg CBD and 2mg CBG per roll, making for an affordable, $28 pack of therapeutic smokes that also offers the subtlest of buzzes.
This all-in-one disposable delta-8 vape pen is palm sized, ultra-discreet, has a mild efficacy that’s great for daytime use. The mouthfeel is ultra-rich and has a thick perfume of tropical fruit, which is either a pro or a con depending on your stance on flavored vape – as an impartial vaper, I thought it was heavy but enjoyable. The effects of this vape hit me and my partner differently. I found the effects to be sheer and ephemeral in both the head and body, buoyed a lovely mood lift. My partner’s effects were slightly more swooning. While my effects eased gradually through my body, his effects arrived with a roller-coaster heave that quickly panned into a warm, manageable mood and energy boost.
The size, potency, perfume and discretion of this disposable delta-8 vape are all notable, but the product’s disposable nature can be disquieting to those on the zero-waste end of the consumption spectrum. The $30 price point is average considering the product contains .6ml, or 150 puffs, and 500mg of concentrated delta-8 THC.
Kush Queen’s line of a 1:1 CBD:Delta 8 gummies feature full spectrum hemp extracts in a variety of fruity, candy flavors. These gummies are universally highly reviewed for their efficacy, balance, and shareable vibe. Rather than an addition to a wellness routine, Kush Queens Delta 8/CBD gummies have a millennial party energy that emphasizes palpable short term body effects rather than long term wellness goals, which is actually a refreshing change of pace considering how deeply many other delta-8 brands lean into their wellness messaging.
Kush Queen feels notably younger and more dynamic than many other brands, but that POV doesn’t seem to limit their user base. It appears that whether you’re looking for a few hours of low-stakes fun or a new addition to a alt.cannabinoid wellness regimen, a Kush Queen D8 gummy pretty much guarantees a mild mood lift and a simmering body buzz that is both easily manageable and tenderly therapeutic.
Fans of throwback gummy candies will likely appreciate Premium Jane’s trio of Delta-8 gummies, including this homage to spongey buttercream indulgence. Across the board, users report Premium Jane’s delta-8 gummies are effectively stimulating and worth the relatively affordable price point ($48 for twenty five, 25mg pieces).
This product gets a spot on this list of the best delta-8 gummies not just for its high user ratings and top-shelf reputation, but also because in a world of citrus and berry confections, birthday cake flavored gummies are low-key exciting.
Koi is a popular brand with Delta-8 users, who have reported these gummies as a potent variety of delta-8 edibles with a corner-store candy vibe. Each of these candy cubes contains 25mg of hemp-derived delta-8, and the packages are available in 6-count or 20-count varieties.
Users prefer these particular gummies for more than their confectionary nostalgia, Koi’s Delta-8 THC gummies have a particular efficacy in treating insomnia and appetite loss. For users less interested in the mild buzzy effects of D8 and more concerned with the therapeutic potential of the cannabinoid, these gummies are a low-stakes introduction that could be especially powerful for those suffering from chronic insomnia or struggling to build up an appetite.

Lest we forget the vape lords among us, Secret Nature’s hemp delta-8 distillate cartridges come highly reviewed and widely esteemed. These standard 510 thread carts are made with Delta-8 THC distillate supercharged with live resin cannabis terpenes, and each contain 1000mg Delta-8 THC per 1 gram cart. Users comment that this brand’s products are extremely high quality, and specifically, that the Delta-8 THC products are worth the attention of any aficionado of the minor cannabinoid.
Secret Nature offers a small but impressive lineup of top-shelf, strain-specific Delta-8 isolates, but potential users may be turned off by the higher than average price point – a single gram starts at $45.
Each of these hemp delta-8 brands comes highly reviewed and recognized, but didn’t quite meet our testing deadline. Oracle is currently working on reviews of many of these brands and will update this list as new products are auditioned, adding notable delta-8 THC flower, prerolls, edibles, vape cartridges, vape pens, oil extracts and topicals as we review their quality, effects, flavors and functions.
3Chi’s product line includes brownies, cookies, and rainbow rice crispy treats, as well as the full slate of familiar hemp products featuring Delta-8 THC, CBD, CBC, CBG etc.
Why trust us
We spent over 7 weeks researching, evaluating, and testing the best Delta-8 products available online and deciding which to recommend to readers. My partner and I are both avid cannabis users, my partner using CBD daily for the past two years and myself using both cannabis and hemp CBD daily for more than a decade. Our expertise comes from daily user experience as well as the extensive research necessary to contribute to such platforms as Weedmaps, A Proper High, The Potlander, and Travel Oregon.
How we picked and tested the best delta-8 products
We’ve considered more than 30 Delta-8 products, mostly based on input from Oracle’s reviewers and editors, as well as from customers in enthusiast forums and sites. We narrowed down the list using Oracle’s Selection Criteria which examines a company’s credibility, transparency, and online reputation. Once the list was narrowed down to the top ten delta-8 products, I tested each product individually for no less than a week to experience its full effects.
Each product was tested during various morning, afternoon and evening scenarios in order to fully experience the efficacy in a number of resting states. My partner and I focused on pre-work usage, post-workout usage, and pre-bedtime usage. We used each product before eating, and typically washed it down with either ice water or herbal tea. Coffee pairings were relegated to later in the testing cycle when we had a better grasp of what to expect, effects wise. Each rating was calculated using Oracle’s rating criteria, keeping in mind the disparate effects we both experienced.
As a daily cannabis user, the appeal of D8 products is less in the potential for mild intoxication and more rooted in the therapeutic potential. As a milder THC, I found D8 a great cannabinoid to start the day with, each of the recommended products laid a foundation for my day that was cushy and complacent without being outwardly (or inwardly) stoned. My partner’s tolerance is considerably lower, and he too found the therapeutic potential in these products to be substantial, while the buzzier vibes became more of an afterthought.
As we auditioned the best Delta-8 THC products, this is what was considered important:
A robust terpene profile or a thoughtful assemblage of flavors is key. Without a measured mouthfeel, the product may as well be flavorless.
Efficacy looks different for everyone, personally, I hoped for mood adjustments, superficial pain relief, and possibly a memorable body high.
Across the board, D8 doses seem to land around 20 – 25%, which is a great number to build off of.
Whether or not the top shelf (or bargain) prices matched the quality product.
Can you buy delta-8 THC products online?
The 2018 Farm Bill specifically made all derivatives, isomers, and cannabinoids in hemp legal, provided the final product has less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC. Delta-8 THC is an isomer of CBD and a derivative of hemp and CBD. Delta-8 THC is wholly legal to buy online (and can even be sent via USPS) in a number of states, but it is your responsibility to know your local and state laws. See this updated map to find out which states have restricted or banned delta 8.
Users should also remain wary of the credibility of many Delta-8 THC products, and only purchase items from reputable companies with easily accessible lab results.
Delta-8 THC is a relatively novel cannabinoid, but as more companies invest in better quality control and innovation, we expect to see a market flooded with delta-8 products. We’ve tested some of the highest quality, best reviewed, and highest rated delta-8 THC products for inclusion in this list, and are confident that each will present a positive entry point to D8, especially if you’re just starting.
