What makes a good CBG oil?
Broad or full spectrum
Cannabinoids are believed to work best in combinations, so broad or full spectrum oils are generally preferable to isolates. For this list, we chose full or broad spectrum options if they were available from each brand. Full spectrum is generally best if you’re looking for pain relief.
Beneficial terpenes
Terpenes are aromatic molecules that add to the beneficial effects of cannabis, as well as imparting its distinctive scent. Beta-caryophyllene, linalool and myrcene are the best terpenes for a pain-relieving or anti-inflammatory effect.
Other pain relievers
Ingredients with anti-inflammatory or pain relieving qualities (such as turmeric) are a bonus if you’re looking for CBG oil for pain relief.
High doses
The more CBG, the better. We avoided oils where it’s a minor component where possible.
Out of 43 CBG oils we identified in our initial search, only six scored high enough to earn our recommendation. Here are the best CBG oils we found.

Medterra’s Max Relief + Relax Tincture achieved a great score on our framework, and the oil boasts equal doses of CBD and CBG. Medterra is one of the only hemp companies that are Hemp Authority Certified, which means they go above and beyond when it comes to manufacturing quality and safety.
The tincture is loaded with cannabinoids and terpenes. It’s truly full spectrum, with CBN, CBC, THC, CBT and CBL in addition to the CBD and CBG. The terpene selection is also huge, and notably includes myrcene and beta-caryophyllene, which have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving qualities.
Although the price is a little high, it has everything you need if you’re looking for a pain relief CBG oil.

Carmen’s Medicinals scored the best on our framework, but we bumped them down one place because really this is a CBD oil that’s high in CBG, not a true CBG oil. That said, it ticks a lot of important boxes for a high-quality CBG oil, and it’s still one of the best options out there.
They start with USDA Certified Organic hemp, taken from a single strain, and extract and process it in their GMP-certified, FDA-registered facility. They control the whole process, and the quality shines through in the final product.
Their oil is true full spectrum, with CBN, THC and CBC rounding out the cannabinoid selection and six different terpenes. This includes caryophyllene and myrcene, ideal pain relief and inflammation.

Extract Labs’ Organic CBG Oil does about as well as it’s possible to do with CBG isolate oil. As well as adding equal amounts of CBD, it also offers a substantial dose with each milliliter for a good price.
They use USDA Certified Organic Hemp for their products, and everything is made in a GMP-certified facility. The blend is fairly simple – just CBG and CBD in organic MCT oil – but it gets the job done without intoxication. It does miss out on some of the benefits of true broad spectrum oils, such as terpenes, but the large dose really makes up for this.
It’s also one of the most affordable options in this list per mg of CBG.

The CBG Isolate Tincture from Vlasic Labs makes this list for its high CBG potency, great price and the high-quality manufacturing at Vlasic.
The 60 mg/ml of CBG in the tincture makes it the most potent CBG oil in this list. It may not include other cannabinoids, but if you’re only looking for the anti-inflammatory and energy-boosting effects of CBG, it’s perfect. It’s also THC-free as confirmed by independent lab testing.
The tincture is made in a GMP-certified and FDA-registered manufacturing facility. Plus, the only things in the oil are CBG and the MCT oil base. You do lose out on the entourage effect, but at less than 3 cents per mg of CBG, the price is hard to beat.

Aspen Green’s Calm Organic Full Spectrum oil is one of the lower-CBG options in this list, but it still offers a decent 5 mg dose per ml. It’s really a CBD oil that’s high in CBG, but with that in mind, it ticks a lot of the boxes we’re looking for in an oil.
It’s full spectrum, with CBC, THC, CBDV, THCV and a little CBN in addition to CBD and CBG. It also includes beta-caryophyllene, one of the best terpenes for pain relief. Aspen Green also uses organic hemp and makes their products in a GMP-certified, FDA registered facility.
You don’t get much bang for your buck when it comes to CBG, but it’s still a solid option.

Vena’s Full Spectrum CBD Tincture isn’t a CBG-focused oil, but it does contain 5 mg of CBG per ml. This isn’t as much as many options on this list – and that’s why it’s ranked lower – but it is still a significant dose.
The combination of cannabinoids in the tincture makes it a great choice for pain relief. The CBD and CBG combat inflammation, and the THC has more direct pain-relieving properties. Among many other terpenes, it also contains the pain-relieving myrcene, further boosting the potential.
There are some downsides too. The CBG content is low, the price per mg is high, and while the hemp is grown organically, it isn’t USDA Certified. But it works really well for pain relief.

Other CBG Oil Brands We Considered But Didn’t Include
From a starting point of 43 brands offering CBG oils, we only recommended six of them in this list. Our first step in qualification is a few key criteria we’re looking for in basically any product we recommend. Generally, we only recommend products that have recent full panel lab tests which confirm their advertised spectrum.
So we discounted a lot of oils on this basis (with some failing multiple checks):
- 13 oils had old lab reports: Brands should test every batch of their CBG oil. If the most recent batch was over a year old, then – even with ideal storage conditions – the cannabinoid content will have changed significantly. This is an instant fail on our criteria.
- 5 oils didn’t have a lab report at all: These oils didn’t have publicly-accessible lab reports. Three of them theoretically had reports, but you need a batch number to access it, which means you can’t check it before buying. The other two didn’t appear to have lab tests at all.
- 11 oils weren’t safety tested: Full panel safety testing includes tests for heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, microbial contamination and mycotoxins. These 11 oils weren’t full panel tested, which means we can’t confirm that they’re safe to consume.
- 16 oils couldn’t confirm their spectrum: Full or broad spectrum oils should have four or more cannabinoids and be at least tested for terpenes. Three oils didn’t have enough cannabinoids, and 13 were not tested for terpenes.
All of the oils that passed through this process were scored on our full criteria. Of the seven qualifying products, six scored over 80% and made the list. One oil from Feals just missed the 80% cutoff.

Methodology
- Expert insights: We used insights from our expert interviews to determine what we should be looking for in CBG oils, notably including criteria for good pain relief oils.
- Market research and analysis: We conducted an automated online search for “CBG oils,” with some additional terms to remove third-party lists, and looked at the top 250 results. From these results, we scraped the text and the text from any relevant internal links. This produced a spreadsheet, which we gave to an LLM alongside our expert-derived criteria. We tasked it with choosing up to two products per brand, and then manually reviewed the output to make a final choice.
- Additional products: We also went through Oracle’s internal brand database to ensure we didn’t miss any CBG oils.
- Qualifying: We went through the process outlined above to choose a final shortlist for scoring. The shortlisted products were then scored on our full Cannabinoid Product Quality Evaluation Framework. Any products scoring over 80% on this went to final ranking.
- Final Ranking: The final ranks were largely based on the scoring, but with adjustments made when the oils didn’t have much CBG and based on first-hand testing.

Does CBG Oil Get You High?
CBG oil is a non-psychoactive product (similar to CBD) that does not create the intoxicating effects that THC would. So no, you do not get “high” from using CBG oil.
While testing many CBG products, I only experienced a mild euphoric buzz in my body and head when I vaped CBG concentrates. In regards to oil consumption, I did not feel any sort of buzz, only pain relief and eliminated physical symptoms of anxiety and brain fog. Keep in mind that everyone’s body and brain are different, so CBG oil affects me differently from you to the next person.
