CBG flower is usually full spectrum, and this is a good idea based on our expert interviews. CBG can help to blunt the negative effects some people get from THC, which gives full spectrum CBG flower a lot of potential.

While many CBG flower batches weren’t tested for terpenes, we prioritized flower that contained beta-caryophyllene, linalool and myrcene where possible. These terpenes likely boost the inflammation-reducing effect of CBG.
Focused on CBG
You’ll get some CBG in many strains of hemp flower, but for this list we focused on products that are CBG-dominant. CBGa – the natural form found in the plant – is technically what you should look for, but most have some activated CBG too.
From a starting point of 36 brands offering CBG flower, we narrowed the options down to just one lab-tested, reliable option for the list.

Organic Green Roots use USDA Certified Organic Hemp, and they control the whole process, from seed to sale. The White CBG Flower is low in THC – just a couple of mg per gram – but the intention is for a clear-headed effect for daytime use. In that sense, the cannabinioid mix is great: we’d have opted for some CBD in the mix too, but it works well.

Although Plain Jane’s White CBG Flower wasn’t able to earn an official recommendation, we’re giving it an honorable mention for the substantial CBG dose and the excellent price per mg.
Plain Jane also has a stellar reputation in the industry, getting started back in 2018 and maintaining an impressive TrustPilot rating. They’re also particularly well known for their flower, which is sourced from small farms in Southern Oregon and is consistently high quality.
Their White CBG Hemp Flower gives you just what you need: a substantial 105 mg/g of CBGa, a little bit of CBDa, some actual CBG and small amounts of CBC to round things out. At just under 3 cents per mg CBGa, it’s fantastic value for money.

CBD American Shaman’s CBG Flower earns an honorable mention thanks largely to our confidence in American Shaman’s quality and manufacturing, as well as the high CBGa content of the flower.
They’re one of very few brands to be certified by the US Hemp Authority. Their quality standards were a huge inspiration for our own, and involve in-person inspections and generally stringent requirements. Even though there is no publicly-available lab test for this flower – unlike their other flower offerings – any brand that earns this certification is worth trying out.
This is full spectrum hemp flower, but THC levels are low and the main effect is boosted clarity and focus. The price is a little high, but so is the quality.

Other CBG Flower Brands We Considered But Didn’t Include
From the 36 brands’ CBG flower offerings we started with, only one product made it through our evaluation process. The reasons for this varied, but the biggest and most common issue was a lack of adequate safety testing. Specifically:
- Lacking full panel testing: 20 CBG flower products were discounted because the brand didn’t perform full panel safety testing. In the case of flower, as noted above, we aren’t including residual solvent testing. However, all hemp flower should be tested for pesticides, heavy metals, microbial contamination and mycotoxins.
- Old lab reports: 9 products had a lab report, but it wasn’t from the past 12 months. Even if you store hemp in ideal conditions, the cannabinoid content changes substantially after a year. It’s more likely that these brands have released new batches of their CBG flower, but simply didn’t conduct new lab tests. In any case, we can’t recommend these because we can’t guarantee their safety.
- No lab report at all: Finally, 5 products were discounted because there was no lab report at all. This not only means it wasn’t safety tested, but that it’s impossible to determine how much CBG and CBGa is in the flower.
After these checks, only 2 products were shortlisted for final scoring. Only one scored over 80%, with the remaining product from Delta Munchies not scoring high enough on our criteria. This was not a CBG-focused option anyway, but it had enough to be considered for the list.
Methodology
- Expert interviews: We used our previous expert interviews, particularly an interview on CBG with Dr. Ethan Russo, to determine the criteria for this list. These criteria helped us choose which of a brand’s products to include, and to fix the final ranking.
- Market research: We use a comprehensive web search to find suitable products for our lists. This is conducted with an automated system, which searches Bing for “CBG oil,” and scrapes the text and all relevant internal links from the top 250 results. The internal links were also scraped for their text.
- Creating the list: The results were then given to an LLM alongside our criteria, and it was tasked with selecting up to two products per brand. The output was then manually reviewed by Oracle staff for the final list, and additional products were added from our internal brand database.
- Qualifying and scoring: We then went through the checks described above and scored the remaining three products on our full Cannabinoid Product Quality Evaluation Framework. Any products scoring over 80% were eligible for the final list.
- Final ranking: The remaining products were then ranked according to the framework, product testing and our CBG-specific criteria.

Using myself as an example, I was able to feel the effects for a moderate period of time by rolling up 0.3 grams of CBG flower. If you find yourself to have a higher tolerance level or are looking for effects to last much longer, you can increase the dosage and use about 0.5-1 gram or more.

CBG flower is a non-psychoactive product that does not create the intoxicating effects that THC would. So no, you don’t get “high”. However, on my personal journey with CBG flower, I experienced a very mild, euphoric buzz in both my head and body. But keep in mind that the potency level was high (20% CBG) and that not everyone will experience this same effect.
