Lulu's Cannabis Infused Chocolates

Lulu’s Edibles is a very high quality brand that makes premium cannabis-infused chocolates. Based in California, Lulu’s Edibles is very responsibly and sustainably-run – all of their products are manufactured in a Certified Carbon-Neutral Facility powered only by solar and wind.

The brand uses processes and ingredients that are far superior to their competitors, but might be lost on the average cannabis consumer, partly due to the high price tag that almost always accompanies specialized ingredients and technology. Each cannabis-infused chocolate bar is made from Fair Trade Heirloom cacao straight from Ecuador, and is infused with full-spectrum, winterized amber oil, in addition to steam distilled terpenes.

In addition to the cannabis chocolate bars we’re reviewing today, Lulu’s sells CBD-only chocolates, but they are featured on a separate website. You can also find the non-infused version of Lulu’s Chocolates at gourmet grocers like Whole Foods and Erewhon, which is somewhat of an indication of who would enjoy and appreciate this brand.

All of Lulu’s Edibles bars that contain THC intentionally also contain CBD in order to achieve the “entourage effect,” or the idea that cannabinoids paired together can provide more of a medicinal benefit compared to one isolated cannabinoid. Having always been an advocate for using CBD and THC together, I can agree that the utilization of both of these cannabinoids improved and optimized function.

Highlights
It’s clear after one bite that Lulu’s Edibles does not skimp on quality when it comes to their chocolate. Their products come in various THC to CBD ratios, mainly 1:1 and 5:1, each with a different function – Chill, Balance, and Uplift. Lulu’s infuses their teats with ethanol-extracted, full spectrum cannabis oil, reinforced with steam distilled terpenes, for enhanced effect and flavor. The chocolate itself has a yummy, delicious and creamy consistency. I’m a fan of dark chocolate, so I like the rich, semi bitter taste. One thing that’s semi-confusing about the brand is that each type of chocolate has a specific “flavor,” for example, Blueberry Muffin. However, that flavor was lost on me, partly due to just incorporating certain terpenes to give that effect, instead of actually adding blueberries, for example.

Editor’s Picks

  • I especially loved the CBD Rich 5:1 “Chill” Chocolate. With 10mg CBD and 2mg THC per serving, this bar is versatile and can be enjoyed any time of day, whether it’s 11am and you’ve already had a handful of annoying Zoom meetings, or it’s 9pm and you’re ready to unwind for bed.

Lulu’s Blueberry Muffin ‘Balance’ Chocolate (1:1)

Lulu’s makes very high quality chocolate, especially compared to others in this category. The intended purpose of this 1:1 chocolate is to ‘balance’ you out – I find the 1:1 ratio allows you to become relaxed while remaining focused, and is enhanced by myrcene, caryophyllene and humulene terpenes.

The chocolate cakes 1-2 hours to take effect, which is in line with other chocolate edibles – I find this aspect makes it harder to find your perfect dose. Lulu’s Edibles are not cheap, and cost nearly $3.30 for 10mg CBD and 10mg THC per serving.

Product Summary

I found this product worked as intended, and the high tech ethanol extraction delivers a high quality high. The chocolate itself has a smooth and delicious consistency, although a somewhat bitter and earthy aftertaste. I didn’t taste anything similar to blueberry, and wish they had tailored the flavor using real blueberries instead of specific terpenes.

Lulu’s Purple Panty Dropper ‘Uplift’ Chocolate (1:5)

Lulu’s 5:1 Purple Panty Dropper Chocolate has 10mg THC and 2mg CBD per serving, one of the brand’s THC-rich edibles. This chocolate is made with higher quality ingredients than competing brands, and incorporates steam distilled terpenes.

Depending on how recently and how much you’ve eaten, this chocolate can take effect between 30-90 minutes, although the brand recommends waiting up to 2 hours before increasing your dose. Overall, the product is fairly inaccessible, costing over $3.00 per dose.

Product Summary

The 5:1, THC-rich chocolate bar is intended to ‘uplift’, and I certainly noticed a positive improvement on my mood. This is the perfect thing to snack on after a long and trying day at work. I was happier, and less stressed, even though I had a lot of work ahead of me. This bar tastes like all the others – there is a subtle difference in terpenes across the bars, but the flavor was a bit too subtle for me to pick up on.

Lulu’s Strawberry Cheesecake ‘Chill’ Chocolate (5:1)

Lulu’s Strawberry Cheesecake “Chill” bar is more CBD-forward, with 10mg CBD and 2mg THC per serving. Lulu’s also includes steam distilled terpenes myrcene, ocimene, and 3 carene, which all come together to enhance the relaxing effect.

This bar is priced the same as the others, meaning each serving costs over $3.00. That’s a bit steep for me, but if you’re someone who wants the highest quality, this is for you.

Product Summary

The “Chill” bar is intended to make you relax, which is made possible by the high amounts of CBD – 10mg per serving, to be exact. I definitely experienced a blissful, calm state after trying. The chocolate tastes like all the other flavors, even though it’s supposed to be slightly different. I did enjoy the creamy texture, though.
