EYCE Spoon Features

A concealed stash container is stowed on the bottom to transport extra herb on the go

The stash container is under one inch in diameter and pretty shallow so you’ll only be able to fit about a bowl’s worth of herb in there. Photo: Zola Costa/CBD Oracle

Looking at the EYCE Spoon’s short build of only 4.25 inches long, it’s fascinating to see how well the stash container is designed with the limited amount of material used to make the pipe. When the pipe is turned upside down, there is a circular disc engraved with the EYCE emblem on the bottom side of the bowl. This is where the stash container lies, so all you need to do to access it is to pull back the little protruding flap on the disk.

The stash container itself is just under one inch in diameter and is pretty shallow, so you’re best to fit about a bowl’s worth of herb if it’s ground up or a couple of super tiny nugs in there.

The hidden storage container is perfect for any user who wants to keep a safety bowl packed for the near future. It’s also great and super convenient for those who are on the go and want to embark on quick adventures without having to heavily pack their bags with smoking materials. However, if you are a serious stoner who loves to smoke multiple bowls at a time, then this extra storage may not be sufficient enough.

Easily discard your bowl and keep your session clean with the stainless steel poker

The heat-resistant poker tool makes it easier to clear any debris or aerating any tightly packed material. Photo: Zola Costa/CBD Oracle

Alongside the stash container lies another useful feature: two-inch stainless steel and heat-resistant poker which is tucked away nicely and ready at your convenience. The easiest way to access the poker is to first lay the pipe up in its regular position. Hold the bowl firmly with one hand and then bend the mouthpiece upwards – this will allow the one end of the poker to naturally pop out.

The steel poker is a great add-on tool and a useful aid to help users aerate any tightly packed material in the bowl or to discard any burned remnants post-session. You can do this by using the pointed end on one side of the poker, while the other end is more flat-headed and can be used to pack down the material in the bowl at any time of the session. The poker makes a great tool for all users, as a hand pipe typically builds up with resin fairly quickly and should be cleared out ideally every time it is used.

A largely constructed bowl made from durable glass and for those who want sizeable tokes

The bowl is made from borosilicate glass and is easily removable. Photo: Zola Costa/CBD Oracle

The bowl for the EYCE Spoon is crafted from a material called borosilicate glass, which is primarily used for hand pipes due to its strong structure and durability. Considering how small the unit is, the empty bowl looks pretty deceiving and only fairly deep and wide in diameter. However, it only looks this way until you pack it generously with flower all the way to the top. With that said, this voluminous bowl would satiate users who are anywhere between novice all the way up to seasoned experts.

The inlaid borosilicate glass bowls are removable and can be easily replaced if there were to be any accidents or breakage. Thankfully, EYCE offers the option of buying a replacement glass bowl on their website.

How Does the EYCE Spoon Compare

EYCE Spoon vs. LIT Silicone Hand Pipe

Although the EYCE Spoon and LIT Silicone hand pipes are very similar to the eye, there are a few differences comparatively in regards to their construction material and price point.

For starters, the Spoon’s body is made with BPA-free, medical-grade platinum cured silicone, while its counterpart is made with BPA-free, food-grade silicone. In terms of quality, medical-grade silicone is labeled as being a higher-grade material – and is safe for bodily contact. This simply means that the EYCE hand pipe comes out on top in terms of quality and gives users a more reassuring idea that their product is safe for human consumption.

Another item to mention is that LIT Silicone’s hand pipe only describes their bowl as being “glass”. Nowhere in the research conducted did I find a solid source that described what type of glass the bowl was made of. Because of this, one could assume that the glass used for LIT Silicone’s hand pipes might not be made with something as durable as borosilicate glass like the EYCE Spoon. EYCE’s transparency once again gives users a more solidified description and reassurance than LIT Silicone on the construction materials they are using.

And although both hand pipes come with a hidden stash container and stainless steel poker, I would still recommend spending the extra four dollars and investing in the EYCE Spoon. The Spoon comes in at $19.99 while LIT Silicone is $15.99, but knowing that EYCE uses higher quality materials alone is definitely worth the buy.

EYCE Spoon Product Guide and Tips

Quick Tips

  1. Stash container. One thing to be aware of is the stash container’s quirkiness. The protruding flap on the side to open the container is pretty small, so if you have bigger fingers, it might be a bit challenging to grab it. A suggestion would be to put it on a flat surface and hold the pipe down while opening it. This way, the disk won’t pop open and fly off and the herb inside won’t fall out and make a mess.
  2. Poker tool. Keep in mind that even though the stainless steel poker tool has a home of its own underneath, it might be a bit challenging to put it back into the groove after use. A little trick to putting it away with ease is to bend the mouthpiece a bit upward while pushing the opposite end of the poker into the groove. Then push the other end in while bending the mouthpiece back into place.
  3. Replacement bowl. Accidents happen and sadly the EYCE Spoon isn’t completely indestructible due to its glass bowl. However, if your bowl ends up being broken or chipped, EYCE offers a replacement bowl on their website for $8.99. Unfortunately when my Spoon arrived, the only packaging it came in was thin plastic shrink wrap. The bowl appeared to have a chip in it already, so just a heads up – it might be worth purchasing a small pipe bag for extra protection.
  4. Replacement poker tool. If you happen to lose your stainless steel poker tool, EYCE has a pack of four that you can buy on their website for just $7.49.
  5. Cleaning. Owning a silicone hand pipe has its pros and cons. One downfall of the Spoon would be that cleaning it will become a challenge due to the material being opaque and virtually impossible to see through. This will pose difficulties for users to see and clean hard to reach places inside, so you won’t ever fully know how clean the pipe really is.

How to Use the EYCE Spoon

Using an EYCE Spoon is the same as using a regular glass hand pipe, but with two extra procedures. Here is an easy step-by-step guide on how to get started on your session:

  1. Take out the poker tool. Hold the pipe upright in one hand and place your other hand on the mouth piece. Bend the mouthpiece in an upward motion, and the end of the poker tool will naturally pop out.
  2. Pack the bowl. You can use herbs from the hidden stash container underneath the bowl, or grab some from your own personal reserve. Fill the bowl up with material according to your liking.
  3. Prepare to burn. Before you light your bowl, cover the “carb” or the hole on the side of the bowl with your finger or thumb. Next, put your mouth up against the mouthpiece.
  4. Light it up. As you light the bowl, keep the carb covered and inhale. When you’ve had a sufficient toke, remove your finger from the carb, finish your inhalation and then breathe out.
  5. Clear the bowl. When the bowl has been fully burned, use the pointed end of the poker tool to clear the bowl and scrape out the ashes. (Optional: If the bowl still has fresh material in it, use the flat end of the poker to pack down what is left)
  6. Repeat steps 2-5 as necessary!

How to Properly Clean the EYCE Spoon

To clean the EYCE Spoon is fairly straightforward – just follow the instructions below:

  1. Remove the glass bowl and separate it from the silicone body.
  2. Put the glass bowl into a medium size bowl. Fill the bowl up with EYCE Silicone Cleaner until it is completely submerged. Let it soak for five minutes.
  3. Take a Q-tip or a pipe cleaner and scrub off any debris on the inside of the pipe along with the glass bowl.
  4. Rinse both parts with warm water.
  5. Dry with a towel.
  6. Put the glass bowl back and connect it into the silicone body of the pipe.

Is the EYCE Spoon Worth it?

The EYCE Spoon alone is definitely worth the purchase with its innovative features. It’s not often you see hand pipes like the Spoon on the market with quirky and ingenious features like the hidden stash container and poker tool. The EYCE Spoon is a special, one of a kind product on its own while still being able to give users the old school experience of using a hand pipe. And although it may not feel exactly the same as an OG glass hand pipe, it’s a unit that you’ll want to take with you without the worry of it breaking. And with its virtually break resistant silicone constructed body, compactability, and low price point of only $20, it is safe to say that it is money definitely well spent!
