Best dry herb vaporizers

Dry herb vaporizers let you enjoy your cannabis without the smoke, offering a smooth, flavorful experience that has less impact on your health.

According to Grand View Research, the market was valued at just under $6 billion USD in 2024, and is projected to reach $13 billion by 2030, and users are turning to it more and more. But with so many different devices out there, choosing the right vaporizer for your needs isn’t easy.

That’s where we come in. We’ve taken the key principles from our Product Quality Evaluation framework and used them to find the best dry herb vaporizers for 2025.

What makes a good dry herb vaporizer?

Not just conduction

While conduction-based heating is affordable and can work well with some devices, convection or hybrid conduction-and-convection devices generally perform better and offer more consistent heating.

High-quality materials

The materials used in the vaporizer – especially the vapor path and oven – are crucial to performance and flavor. We’ve prioritized devices that use materials like ceramics, PEEK and glass for key areas so it won’t impact the flavor. Transparency about materials was also a key deciding factor: consumers need to know, so brands should be up-front.

Heat options

We’ve prioritized devices that offer a good spread of temperatures for preset options, or ideally a free choice of temperature up to around 420 °F/ 216 °C.

Our initial search turned up products from 19 different brands, but these five were the best of the bunch when it came to performance, price and functionality.

The Pax Flow is the latest offering from Pax Labs, and makes some crucial improvements over previous models.

The Flow incorporates a hybrid, dual heating system and massively boosts the airflow compared to the Pax Mini or Plus.

The result is a smooth draw, with evenly-vaporized cannabis and excellent flavor from every puff.  While the battery suffers a little because of the hybrid heating and relatively low capacity, it charges via USB-C in just 40 minutes.

It offers five temperature settings, including the water-pipe focused bong mode, which isn’t as good as a free choice but covers most of the ground you’ll need. But this plus the side-mounted oven makes it an easy-to-use device that’s perfect for your first serious vaporizer.

Check out our full review of the Pax Flow here.

  • Easy to use
  • Smooth, comfortable draw
  • Efficient hybrid heating
  • Five heat settings
  • Side oven for easy filling
  • Fast charging
  • Can get hot in use – you’ll need the grip sleeve
  • Battery life could be better

4.5 CBD Oracle Rating

Storz & Bickel has been one of the biggest names in the industry ever since vaporizers first started taking off, and the Venty is their most popular portable device by far.

It runs on two 18650 batteries with an impressive 5940 mAh capacity, and heats up in just 20 seconds. You can set a precise temperature, anywhere from 104 – 410 °F, and the device uses Storz & Bickel’s patented combination of conduction and convection heating.

The performance is exceptional: your material vaporizes evenly and the adjustable airflow gives you unparalleled control over your experience.

The flowmeter automatically adjusts the heating to match your draw speed, which means it performs incredibly well at lower temperatures. It’s expensive, but worth it.

  • Adjustable airflow
  • Great performance even at lower temps
  • Precise temperature adjustment
  • Excellent battery life
  • Ceramic and PEEK for heat-resistance
  • Clean flavor
  • Efficient hybrid heating
  • Expensive
  • Smaller oven than other devices

Arizer is a great brand if you want quality at a reasonable price-point. They aren’t the absolute cream of the crop, but they’re pretty close and consistently come in about $100 cheaper than the higher-end options.

And you couldn’t find a better example of this than the Solo III V2, boasting an ultra-fast 5 – 15 second heat-up thanks to hybrid heating using ceramic convection technology (80% convection) but not even breaking $300.

It has three preset temperatures, but you can also adjust it manually in either 1 or 10 degree increments. You can also use it in session mode or on-demand mode, giving you full control over your experience.

The result is an incredible hard-hitting vape that’s worth every cent.

  • 80% convection hybrid heating
  • 15 second heat-up
  • Excellent, hard-hitting performance
  • Precise temperature adjustment
  • XL bowl holds 0.4 g of weed
  • Solid price point
  • Great battery life
  • Not very portable
  • Clunky controls

4.2 CBD Oracle Rating

The TinyMight 2 is proof that good things can come in small packages. Measuring just 3.5 inches tall, it’s a genuinely portable dry herb vape and it packs a massive punch.

Most impressively, it’s pure convection heating, offering unparalleled flavor and heats your material as evenly as anything could.

It uses ten pre-set temperatures rather than a free choice, but it heats up with incredible speed – five to ten seconds and you’re ready to go. You can use it on-demand or in session mode.

Since it’s more compact than most devices, it’s not much of a surprise that it can get noticeably hot around the bowl, and the lack of a display screen makes the learning curve a little steeper.

  • Full convection vaporizer
  • Very portable
  • Fast heating – 5-10 seconds
  • On demand and session modes
  • Wide temperature range
  • Replaceable battery
  • No free temperature adjustment
  • Not the best for new vapers

4.2 CBD Oracle Rating

The Rogue 2 from Healthy Rips is perfect for vapers on a budget. With convection heating and free temperature control between 280 and 430 °F, it does a great job in terms of performance while costing less than $140.

There are more affordable options out there, but nothing that balances performance and price as well as the Rogue 2. It heats up in just 25 seconds and can hold 0.225 g of bud in the food-grade titanium chamber.

The Rogue 2 is another device that is genuinely portable, measuring just 3.65 inches tall. While the flavor and vapor isn’t quite up there with the Venty or Pax Flow, it’s much better than anything at a similar price-point.

  • Excellent value for money
  • Precise temperature adjustment
  • Convection heating
  • Portable design
  • Good battery life
  • Great performance all-round
  • Battery can’t be replaced
  • Not the fastest heat up

While the Volcano Hybrid is technically a better desktop vaporizer, the $220 saving you’ll get for sticking with the Classic makes it well worth it.

It’s a legend, offering full convection heating in an intuitive system with basically no draw resistance at all. There are downsides to sticking with the Classic – 5 minutes heating time compared to 40 seconds, for one – but the performance is excellent whichever version you go for.

The Volcano Classic offers 9 temperature settings between 266 and 446 °F, with an analog dial that’s been around since the original release, compared to the free digital selection on the Hybrid.

You get the picture: the Hybrid improves the formula, but the Classic is more affordable and still rocks.

  • Full convection heating
  • Solid price for a desktop
  • 9 temperature settings
  • Excellent performance
  • Easy-valve system for balloons
  • No draw resistance
  • Slow heat-up
  • Balloons only – no whip option

Arizer brings their “affordable but awesome” philosophy to desktop dry herb vaporizers with the XQ2.

It’s easily the best balance between performance and price you can get in a desktop, and it blows the original Extreme Q out of the water when it comes to capabilities.

It offers precise, 1-degree temperature control up to a massive 500 °F, and you can fill up balloons or inhale directly from the whip attachment.

It takes about two minutes to reach vaping temperature, but the performance is better if you leave it a minute or two beyond that.

It’s admittedly a little gimmicky with the LED light show around the base and the remote control, but at this price there is no better desktop vaporizer.

  • Full convection heating
  • Precise temperature adjustment
  • Unbeatable price – cheaper than some portables
  • Balloon or whip operation
  • Solid performance
  • Quiet fan
  • Slower heat-up than advertised
  • Some gimmicky additions

Other Vaporizers We Considered

From the list of 22 products, we discounted some options based on some key factors:

  • Conduction-only heating: Conduction heating can work, but convection-based or hybrid heating systems are so widespread that there is no need to choose something conduction-only. We discounted these devices.
  • Lack of transparency: If we had to dig into reviews on other sites or other third-party sources to find out basic information – for example, the materials used in the device – we took that as a bad sign and discounted the products. Consumers should be given clear information about what they’re buying.
  • Poor score on reputation, transparency and marketing: Any brands that scored poorly on section 7 of our Cannabinoid Product Quality Evaluation framework were discounted.

Many products were not discounted based on the above, but didn’t make the final list for more subjective reasons. These products in particular could easily have been included:

  • Tafee Bowle Series II: The Bowle has a unique design, an impressive 5,000 mAh capacity battery and convection-only heating, but they didn’t score fantastically on our framework items, had a high price-point ($449) and didn’t go into much detail about the materials used.
  • Planet of the Vapes Lobo: The Lobo could easily have taken the best budget vaporizer title, but the slightly higher price ($159.95 vs. $139), hybrid heating style and slower heat-up time (40 seconds vs. 25 seconds) meant it narrowly lost out to the Healthy Rips Rogue 2. However, this was a close call and Planet of the Vapes scored highly on our framework.
  • Xmax V3 Pro: Released in conjunction with Planet of the Vapes, the VMAX V3 Pro is a solid budget device, but its small oven – holding just 0.1 g of material – held it back.

Methodology: How We Ranked the Best Dry Herb Vaporizers

Online search: We searched Google for “best dry herb vaporizer” and reviewed all results in the first 15 pages. If any of these were lists, we reviewed the products in the lists for eligible options, which had to be electronic, for sale in the US and not discontinued. We also instituted a limit of one product per brand – to ensure fair coverage – unless the brand carried a desktop in addition to a portable dry herb vaporizer. We ended up with 22 eligible products.

Modified product quality evaluation: While our Cannabinoid Product Quality Evaluation framework is intended for products that contain cannabinoids rather than hardware, the items relating to the company’s reputation, transparency and marketing were used here. In addition, we compiled important info – heating method, battery life, materials, oven size, heat-up time, price, temperature options – into a spreadsheet. Products were discounted if they used conduction-only heating, if they were unclear about materials, or if they scored poorly on reputation, transparency and marketing.

Final ranking: The final list was determined based on first-hand Oracle testing, other user reviews and by comparisons of the key features of each entry. We also ensured desktop vaporizers were represented in the list
