How CBD Can Help with Pandemic Anxiety

The stress the world is experiencing right now is immense. Almost all of us have been directly impacted by COVID-19, and the world feels like its standing still. CBD, as a cannabinoid itself, functions by working directly with ECS to help it produce or inhibit the molecules it needs to get itself back into balance. By doing this, it becomes easier for our body to naturally reach homeostasis, getting the boost it requires to produce all the necessary endocannabinoids. Once this is achieved, it’s incredibly probable that your anxieties will reduce significantly, too, as well as your overall stress levels.

As we mentioned, one of the functions that the ECS helps to control is stress. With stress often comes a lot of anxiety, so finding ways to manage our stress levels can be revitalizing for our mental health. CBD, when taken in small, reasonable doses, can work directly with our brain’s neurotransmitters to produce what it needs, like serotonin. When our brain is able to produce the right amount of serotonin–not too much nor too little–controlling our emotions and thoughts becomes significantly easier. This is the same concept for the body’s main stress hormone, cortisol, which CBD directly regulates as well.

Speaking of moods, this regulation of neurotransmitters can also help us boost our moods tenfold. With the gloom of COVID-19 constantly bearing down on us, being able to stay positive during this time can do wonders for reducing our anxieties. And while CBD can’t immediately erase our depression, it allows us a way of taking control of it; finally, our mental health in our own hands. 

Helping with Sleep

One of CBD’s most popular uses is for helping with sleep. As a chemical compound with such soothing properties, consuming some before bed is the perfect recipe to get your brain to relax and your body to decompress. By directly being able to regulate our stress hormones like cortisol, CBD can help our minds be able to unwind while our body’s aches and pains are soothed by the compound’s anti-inflammatory properties. The combination, then, results in the perfect recipe for sleep. 

The better sleep we get, the better we’re able to function on a daily basis. We simply cannot be our best selves when we’re lacking sleep, and things like anxiety and stress only seem to worsen. So, if we can help our bodies receive the perfect amount of sleep every night, it will likely reward us with strength and stability.

In general, CBD is boasting with popularity within the health and wellness industry. Even before the pandemic, people were discovering how helpful this cannabinoid can be within their wellness journeys, giving them not only relaxation and euphoria, but nutrients and nourishment, too. Just as CBD can fill the gaps in our endocannabinoid system to help us reach homeostasis, it can fill the gaps in our nutrition intake as well.

When we give our body what it needs, things like stress and anxiety, no matter where it stems from, don’t stand a chance.
